We feel even more unconvinced than Martin Lawrence looks in this picture, but apparently a writer has been hired for Big Momma's House 3, a second sequel to the cross-dressing fat-lady hit of 2000. Randi Mayem Singer, who previously wrote Mrs Doubtfire, will write this new film.
There's no hint yet as to the plot of this third film, but like the previous two it will no doubt involve Martin Lawrence's cop (or, if wet, someone else standing in for Martin Lawrence) having to dress up as an appalling fat old lady stereotype in order to catch the whoevers.
The two Big Momma films to date made over $300 million at the box office (between them, not each; otherwise we'd be on number 5 already), so perhaps a sequel is simply inevitable. In any case, let's hope Singer can improve the existing franchise.
