To land Annette Bening or Michelle Pfeiffer for a film is considered a big deal. To have them both in a cast? That hasn't happened before, but director Gideon Raff has managed the trick for new psychological thriller Turn Of Mind.

Doug Wright adapted the script from Alice LaPlante's bestseller. It focuses on a retired doctor succumbing to the effects of Alzheimer's who has to figure out – when her brain allows moments of clarity – if she killed the person the police claim she did, or if it's all a ruse.

"Turn Of Mind is an edge of your seat emotional thriller," Raff says in a statement picked up by Variety. "A story of a warped friendship between two brilliant, sharp, forceful women who are bonded equally by their love for and jealousy of one other."

You'll be shocked – shocked, we tell you – to learn that the rights to the film will be up for sale at the Cannes Film Market kicking off this week. Pfeiffer will be back on our screens in Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, due out on 18 October. Bening has indie The Report and Hope Gap on the way, though neither has yet landed a UK date.
