With an Oscar nomination under her belt for Mudbound's screenplay, CO-writer/director Dee Rees has been considering her next step. She now has Anne Hathaway in talks to star in The Last Thing He Wanted.
Pre-production has already geared up on this one, which has a script from Marco Villalobos. It'll follow journalist Elena McMahon, who has been busy investigating the Iran Contra plot (you might have seen some of that in last year's American Made). Variety picked up a statement calling the plot "a thrilling story of one woman, alone and unrelenting in a race against time."
The rights to distribute the movie will be up for sale at the Berlin Film Festival market, and given the director and star, we'd expect plenty of interest. Hathaway will next pop up in Ocean's 8, which is out on 22 June.
