We doubt Anne Hathaway’s ego is suffering too much right now, given her recent marriage and the career success she’s enjoyed this year with** The Dark Knight Returns**, but she’s certainly happy to fake it for the screen, signing on to star in The Low Self-Esteem Of Lizzie Gillespie.
Given that it features a script co-written by The Office’s Mindy Kaling and Simpsons/King Of The Hill/Office veteran Brent Forrester, we’re expecting this one to be a major tweak on typical romantic-comedy clichés.
The central conceit is about a woman (Hathaway) whose total lack of self-worth has left her seemingly doomed to date total losers.
She’s close to hitting the bottom of the barrel, but then she suddenly catches the eye of an incredibly hot bloke. We just hope his last name isn’t Grey...
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kaling may take a supporting role in the film, though she’d likely need to wait until a hiatus for her new TV show, The Mindy Project, which she created and stars in. Before that can even happen, though, the movie will need a director.
Hathaway, meanwhile, will be back on our screens next year in Les Miserables, which arrives on January 11.
