While the late Ed and Lorraine Warren (the latter recently passed away) did fine work in real life investigating and curtailing all sorts of supernatural nastiness, we do slightly question their policy of keeping all the cursed objects in one room. That's the big problem in the new trailer for Annabelle Comes Home, which has stalked online.
This third doll-focused spin-off from the Conjuring universe finds the Demonologist duo played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga (appearing properly in an Annabelle film for the first time) placing the haunted, spirit-drawing doll “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing.
But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target – the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy (McKenna Grace), and her babysitter. Gary Dauberman, who has been a writer on both the other Annabelle movies (plus The Nun and It), takes the director's chair here to wreak horror himself.
While we wonder whether Ed and Lorraine wouldn't have benefitted from the advice of Supernatural's Winchester brothers (think: more protective spells and possibly a concrete bunker), Annabelle Comes Home will be in cinemas on 10 July.
