Anna Paquin has often been drawn to dramas with deeper shadings, and she's now joining the cast of a new BFI/Creative Scotland-backed romantic tale called Tell It To The Bees.
Annabel Jankel is aboard to direct the film, with the script provided by Henrietta and Jessica Ashworth, which adapts Fiona Shaw's novel. Tell It To The Bees finds Holliday Grainger as a mother in 1950s Britain who is dealing with the breakdown of her marriage. Se meets a doctor (Paquin) who is returning to her quiet home town to take over the practice formerly run by her late father, and a romance blossoms between the two.
The cast will also comprise Kate Dickie, Emun Elliott, Steven Robertson, Lauren Lyle and newcomer Gregor Selkirk. Jankel is rolling the cameras now on the film, and it'll likely be out next year.
Paquin will appear in an episode of Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams and is also part of the cast for Netflix's adaptation of Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace, due to hit the streaming service this year. She's also appearing in and producing husband Stephen Moyer's feature directorial debut The Parting Glass.
