Nice to see yet that the horror remake magpie continues to spread its wings outside of Japan.

Universal has nabbed a pitch called Anguish by Jake Wade Wall, which is based on a 1987 Spanish horror called Anguista.

The original was Scream before its time, in which an audience in a small town movie theatre is slowly slaughtered as it watches a film about a maniac killer.

Director Bigas Luna will be an executive producer, but there’s no word on a director yet. Writer Wall has experience with updating horror thrillers – his last job was writing the When A Stranger Calls remake, and he’s also penned a new version of The Hitcher for Rogue Pictures.
