2016's Angry Birds might not have been the best game adaptation ever, but it certainly shrugged off the curse in terms of box office, scoring a healthy $352 million worldwide. Which of course means the sequel is headed our way like a feathered fighter flung from a slingshot. The teaser trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 2 has landed.
This first look at the film focuses on an entirely new character, Zeta, voiced by Leslie Jones. She lives on an icy, isolated island and is sick and tired of everything ending up encased in the frozen stuff – or stolen by seals once it has defrosted. So her plan is to find somewhere else to live, making first contact (or possibly looking to wipe anyone else out) by flinging ice balls.
And one of those happens to hit the island where the birds and the pigs live, which points to our heroes potentially teaming up with their previous villains to stop a new threat.
The previous movie's voice cast, including Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader and Peter Dinklage are back for this one, with new additions such as Sterling K. Brown, Awkwafina and Nicki Minaj. Expect the feathers to fly again when the film arrives in the UK on 4 October, following a 16 August release in the US.
