Angelina Jolie has been in the news a lot recently, between dropping out of **Wanted 2 **(it’s still alive, apparently, though she's almost definitely out for now) and then possibly becoming attached to Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity – or not, depending on which report you read. And now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she’s interested in a period drama called Serena with Darren Aronofsky.
Serena: A Novel was written by Ron Rash in 2008 and tells the tale of a man named George Pemberton who takes his new bride to the woods of North Carolina in 1929 to start a timber empire.
Serena soon finds her footing in the wilderness and, Lady Macbeth-style, starts pushing her husband to more ruthless acts. And then the real horror starts: when she discovers she can’t have children, she decides to murder the son her other half fathered illegitimately.
Chris Kyle, who wrote K19: The Widowmaker, has penned the adaptation, though apparently it needs a rewrite before the actress and director can truly commit. Oh, and it needs a budget before it can even think about getting made.
Aronofsky is currently on post-production duties for ballet psychodrama Black Swan and Jolie is filming The Tourist with Johnny Depp, but after that their schedules are apparently clear.
Now all we have to do is wait for either confirmation or a story that claims she’s never even heard of the project. Next week: Angelina Refutes Claims She Bought That Bottle Of Water That Time.
