There has recently been speculation about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt reuniting on screen for their first project since 2005’s Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Now it’s becoming official, with the news that Universal has snapped up the rights to make what is currently called **By The Sea.
Very little is known about the movie, though Variety has heard that it’ll focus on a couple’s relationship, which isn’t that surprising given who is on board. Jolie is planning to write and also direct the film, which means it will have to wait until she finishes work on the Louis Zamperini film Unbroken, due in cinemas for Christmas.
“I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team as I finish Unbroken and begin work on By The Sea," Jolie said in a statement. “They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker.”
Unbroken hits UK screens on December 26. Pitt, meanwhile, will be back on screen in David Ayer’s tank drama Fury, which rolls in on October 24.
