Remaking a Tony Scott film is not something that should be attempted lightly, and there are plenty of people who think it shouldn't be tried at all. Still Warner Bros. has had The Hunger in its sights for a while now, with D.E.B.S. and Professor Marston And The Wonder Women director Angela Robinson in final talks.

Jessica Sharzer wrote the script for the new film, and we'll have to see if it puts a new spin on the story. The original adapted a Whitley Streiber novel and starred Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. Deneuve played Miriam Blaylock, the last of a race of vampires who’ve lived thousands of years, feeding off the blood of victims.

The bloodsucker has told her lovers she will give them immortality by injecting them with her extraordinary blood. In truth, eventually they age and when it does it happens rapidly, sending them toward an eternal undead state. When the vampire’s lover begins to show signs of aging, she seeks the help of a scientist who specializes in blood and thinks she has found a breakthrough bestowing eternal youth...

Prolific TV producer Greg Berlanti and regular creative partner Sarah Schechter are among the team shepherding this one, and while there will be plenty of complaints about yet another remake, the 1983 version isn't considered among Scott's best – there's scope for something interesting here.
