If you're feeling any ape-related action cravings after War For The Planet Of The Apes, and are itching to enter that world again, how about a video game where you get to play as either a human or a simian. That's the basic concept behind Planet Of The Apes: Last Frontier, which Andy Serkis' The Imaginarium Studios has been working on with FoxNext Games.
The story for this one takes place between the events of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and this year's War, and sidesteps concerns about messing with the timeline of the movies by not focusing on Caesar and his tribe. Instead, there is the interaction between another group of apes and some human survivors, where their precarious existence hangs in the balance as two worlds collide. Last Frontier's narrative structure means you can play as either side, and the choices you make shape the destiny of each side.
"We are committed to exploring and expanding next-generation storytelling, and Planet Of The Apes: Last Frontier represents an exciting marriage of technology and creativity, all set in a rich universe of which I am very proud," says Serkis. The game should be out later this year.
