Andy Fickman, director of The Game Plan and the forthcoming Race To Witch Mountain, likes Empire. How do we know? He told us so at Comic-Con. We’re his favourite, he said.
Luckily, while Empire liked Fickman and thought he was a funny, engaging guy, we're professional enough to rise above such blatant and obvious attempts to curry favour and… what’s this? Andy Fickman has signed an exclusive deal to continue making movies for Disney???
BEST NEWS EVER!!!!
Yes, Fickman – who is not only smart and funny, but is also kind to children and animals – has signed a three-year first-look deal with the studio, with a view to producing a string of family films through his newly-established production company, Oops Doughnuts Prods.
Oops Doughnuts? Is that not the greatest name for a production company ever? The answer is yes, dear readers. Incontrovertibly so.
The first film that Fickman will direct under his new deal should be a film called Pool Rats, based on his experience coaching a neighbourhood swim team. He co-wrote the script with Kathryn Price and Nicole Millard, and should move onto that once post-production duties are finished on Race To Witch Mountain, his big-budget family comedy with Son ‘The Dwayne’ Rockjohn, and Carla Gugino.
And after that, who knows? For a guy as insightful and wonderful as Fickman, the world’s his oyster! Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to get a load of ‘Empire loves Andy Fickman’ T-shirts printed. Want one?
