A double dose of ex-Spidey news today. Andrew Garfield, Sony’s former webslinger, freshly attached to Andy Serkis’ true-life romance Breathe, has also put his scrawl next to the latest from It Follows director David Robert Mitchell.

Garfield is joining Mitchell’s Under The Silver Lake. Beyond its description as a "modern-day noir crime thriller" set in LA, there’s few details out there, but it should pique the interest of anyone who caught the writer-director’s terrific 2014 genre piece.

It’ll be Mitchell’s third after It Follows and The Myth Of The American Sleepover, his more whimsical debut from 2010. This one is coming together under the experienced eye of 50 Shades Of Grey and Captain Phillips producer Michael De Luca.

“David Robert Mitchell is one of the great new voices in cinema and I am honoured to be working with him and the entire producing team,” he enthuses.

After his acclaimed turn in subprime drama 99 Homes, Garfield is well on the way to re-establishing himself as a character actor of real substance, post-The Amazing Spider-Man. He also has Martin Scorsese’s The Silence and Mel Gibson‘s Hacksaw Ridge coming in the next 12 months, and Serkis’s Breathe now added to his slate.
