It seems Paul WS Anderson is ready for a busy year. Not only is he currently preparing to shoot historical action-fest Pompeii (as evidenced by the casting ramp up), he’s apparently decided to officially take the director’s chair for Resident Evil 6.
Anderson, who kicked off the franchise, has overseen it as producer and returned to direct 2010’s Afterlife and last year’s Retribution, was always likely to be back, especially since the sixth film appears to be the conclusion to the second trilogy. And, if we’re honest, he’s so ingrained in the Evil series, he could direct these things in his sleep.
Milla Jovovich (aka Paul’s better half) will be back as Alice in the film, which will be tasked with carrying on from where Retribution left off. Which – spoiler alert if you’ve yet to see it – leaves Alice in the White House standing alongside Shawn Roberts’ big bad-turned-seeming-ally Albert Wesker as a tide of ravenous infected types swarm towards the building.
As of yet, the new pic doesn’t have a catchy subhead, but it does have a release date of September 12, 2014. Could this be the absolute, we-really-mean-it last Evil film? It’ll depend on the box office…
