It seems somehow fitting that 20th Century Fox will be the home of Fantastic Mr Fox. Although, given how many puns will be made about the coincidence, we’re already sick of it.

Still, it’s good news for Roald Dahl fans as Wes Anderson has finally gotten a deal in place to make Fox for the studio, and plans to shoot it using a number of animated techniques – primarily, Wallace & Gromit-style stop motion.

He and Life Aquatic collaborator Noam Baumbach have adapted Dahl’s book which, for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure (no matter how old you are now, read it, it’s good), features the adventures of the titular forest-dweller who outsmarts three stupid farmers who decide to step up their attempts to keep him from eating their chickens.

Anderson’s going to be busy in the coming year – he plans to start pre-production work on Fox while he shoots his next film, The Darjeeling Limited. The 'toon will apparently be made mostly here in England, where a chunk of Darjeeling is being filmed.
