Anchorman - or, rather, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - came out in the US on July 9, 2004. Its long-awaited sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, is now confirmed for a December 20, 2013 release - in America, at any rate.
If it follows in the footsteps of the original McKay/Apatow/Ferrell comedy, there'll be a gap of a couple of months between the US release and the UK release, as us Brits had to wait until September 2004 before any footage of Brick riding a bear could be watching by the general cinemagoing public.
So what does this mean? Well, it means that 2013 is a busy one for big blockbusters - Man Of Steel, Star Trek Into Darkness and all - and even a sequel to a cult comedy needs to negociate a bit to find the approproate slot. In other words, this ain't a chuckle-all-the-way-to-the-park summer movie, this is a warm-your-cockles number, which is rather classy, really.
365 days to wait, ladies and gentlemen... In the mean time, take a look at this teaser trailer below and remember to write 'Anchorman 2: December 20, 2013' in your copybooks/diaries now.
