Back in July, spy novel adaptation The Gray Man took a major leap towards screens as directors Joe and Anthony Russo scored a hefty $200 million budget from Netflix and the services of their former Captain America, Chris Evans alongside Ryan Gosling. Knives Out's Ana De Armas is the latest to leap aboard.
Mark Greaney's 2009 tome, which has spawned several follow-ups focused on burned CIA agent-turned hired killer Court Gentry (Gosling). The idea here is a deadly duel between killers as Gentry is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort at the CIA.
The Russos had been developing the film for a few years, chipping away at the script in between massive making massive Marvel movies. The Gray Man sat at Sony all that time, before the studio shoved it back on the market and Netflix jumped at the chance. More recently, the directors handed the screenplay over to creative partners Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely for a polish.
De Armas next has new Bond outing No Time To Die headed our way in April, and will be seen opposite Ben Affleck in Deep Water, due in August.
