Deep Water

Deep Water’s voyage to being released hasn’t been smooth sailing. It’s endured several setbacks (COVID-induced production delays meant it missed its initial release date in 2020), stars Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck experienced some real-life romantic turbulence, and it was pulled from a second date this January before being picked up for a streaming release by Amazon Prime Video. It looks like the film is, finally, definitely, coming out, with today’s new teaser focusing on an, ahem, intimate moment between the two leads. Watch the short, grabby (steady) teaser below – fair warning, it’s slightly NSFW, so you might want to turn the sound down if you’re in the office.

A hand, please (come on now) for whoever decided to release this trailer on Valentine’s Day – and commiserations to Jennifer Lopez, who most likely has the words ‘Deep’ and ‘Water’ blocked on her server. Based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, Deep Water sees Affleck and de Armas play wealthy New Orleans couple Vic and Melinda Van Allen. Their crumbling marriage brings on mistrust and mutual mind games, which get all the more intense when the people that Melinda engages in extramarital affairs with start going missing. This is the first film in 20 years from renowned erotic thriller director Adrian Lyne, whose work includes Fatal Attraction, Unfaithful and Indecent Proposal__.

Deep Water will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video from 18 March 2022 in the UK. In the States, it'll be on Hulu the same day, and you can find that version of the trailer below.
