Steven Spielberg is pushing ahead with his next film, even though he has yet to settle on a title for the Cold War thriller that will star Tom Hanks. He’s now organised a reunion with Amy Ryan and has Alan Alda, Eve Hewson and Billy Magnussen all in various stages of talks to join the cast.

Joel and Ethan Coen have been busy on a rewrite of the script for the film, while Matt Charman wrote the original version of the story. It’s based on the true-life tale of James Donovan (Hanks); a lawyer who was pushed headfirst into the Cold War during the 1960s when he had to negotiate for the release of downed U2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers after the airman was shot down over Russia.

So far, all we know about the new recruits is that Ryan will play Donovan’s wife. Alda needs no real introduction, but Hewson – whose casting was revealed by The Wrap – is (fittingly) the daughter of U2 sunglass addict Bono and has been building an acting career for herself in the likes of Enough Said and Blood Ties. Magnussen counts Damsels In Distress and **The East **among his credits and will next show up in Rob Marshall’s **Into The Woods **playing a prince.

Spielberg is aiming to kick off shooting this September in New York and Berlin ready for an October 2015 release date via DreamWorks and Fox.
