With all the production issues, changes in show-runners and reported cast script quibbles that have plagued the second season for the TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods, we were beginning to wonder whether it would ever hit screens. But US cable outlet Starz has set a date, and here's the first taste of the next run of episodes.
Season Two sees the battle between new and old gods move inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World (Crispin Glover) plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow (Ricky Whittle) throws in his lot with Wednesday’s (Ian McShane) attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura (Emily Browning) and Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber) in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment, and faith requires terrible sacrifice...
It remains to be seen if the show keeps up the decidedly weird and creative style of its first season, though the trailer hints at that. American Gods returns to US screens via Starz on 10 March, followed by its arrival on Amazon Prime Video weekly from 11 March.
