Tom Hooper followed up The King’s Speech with 2012’s **Les **Misérables, but since then he’s been trying to find his next project. He’s been busy developing The Danish Girl, and has Amber Heard in talks for a role.
The Danish Girl finds Hooper re-teaming with Les Mis’s Eddie Redmayne for a film inspired by a true story. Based on a 2000 book by David Ebershoff, it’ll chronicle Danish painter Einar Wegener's life as he became the first man to undergo a sex change operation in the early 1930s, becoming Lili Elbe. Alicia Vikander is already attached to co-star as Wegener’s wife, Gerda, while Heard is circling the role of Oola.
Currently scripted by Lucinda Coxon, this one has been developing for a few years, with Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and director Tomas Alfredson all attached at various points.
As for Heard, she’s worked on** London Fields** and The Adderall Diaries and has a role in** Magic Mike XXL**.
