The cast of Clint Eastwood’s** American Sniper**, once a Steven Spielberg joint, is taking shape. The latest addition, Max Charles, has signed on to play the son of Bradley Cooper’s title character, US Navy sniper Chris Kyle.
One of those quote-unquote ‘veteran child actors’ (a phrase that always makes us think of Baby Herman in** Who Framed Roger Rabbit**), Charles already has credits as young Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, in ABC sitcom The Neighbors and, most recently, as the voice of Sherman in Mr. Peabody & Sherman. He’ll be playing the son of Cooper’s marksman and his wife (Sienna Miller).
Jason Dean Hall (Paranoia) has adapted Navy SEAL Kyle’s book, subtitled The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In US Military, which recorded Kyle’s career as a Texas-born shooter who notched the highest number of recorded kills for an American. But his dedication to his sights and his SEAL mates has an impact on his relationship with his wife, and tragedy seems like it might be lurking just around the corner. **American Sniper **should be with us – or hiding in a bush near us – some time in 2015.
