Back in 1996, Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg were at earlier stages of their respective careers and they played young lovers with a dark undertone in James Foley's thriller Fear. The remake machine has reached into the past to pluck this one out for a new version, and Amandla Stenberg is taking on the Witherspoon role.
The story follows what happens when Nicole (Stenberg in this take) met David; handsome, charming, affectionate, he was everything. It seemed perfect, but soon she sees that David has a darker side. And his adoration turns to obsession, their dream into a nightmare, and her love into fear...
Jonathan Herman is writing the script for Universal, and original producer Brian Grazer is back working behind the scenes again.
Stenberg appeared in The Hate You Give and Where Hands Touch and she recently joined the cast of Damien Chazelle's jazzy Netflix series The Eddy.
