The Foreign Reporter's Association may love him, but Robert Altman didn't even make the shortlist for this year's Director's Guild Awards. The nominations for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film which were announced today are Peter Jackson, Ridley Scott, Baz Luhrmann, Ron Howard and - the surprise entry - Memento's Christopher Nolan. According to the DGA website the award 'has traditionally been one of the industry's most accurate barometers for who will win the Best Director Academy Award. Only five times since the DGA Award's inception in 1949 has the DGA Award winner not won the Academy Award.' That includes last year when the Award went to Ang Lee while the Oscar was picked up by Steven Soderbergh. As the award is voted for only by members of the Director's Union, it's a double snub for Altman, who would have been counting on his peers to follow the Globes lead.
