The last time we saw Allison Williams in a Blumhouse film, she was popping up as a young woman with a decidedly dark secret in Get Out. She'll re-team with the company for a new thriller that has a story about a highly sophisticated doll. Which, for anyone who has seen a Child's Play film, means it probably won't end well.
This new movie, M3GAN, features a script by Luke Cage's Akela Cooper, who worked off a story idea from James Wan (who produces). Williams will play Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company. She uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype – a decision that has unimaginable consequences.
Gerald Johnstone, who previously made Housebound, is on to direct the movie, while Williams will act as an executive producer as well as starring.
