Remake fever continues to spread faster than Avian Flu. Next on the slate is Nicolas Roeg’s 1977 sci-fi drama The Man Who Fell To Earth.
The original starred David Bowie as Thomas Newton Jerome, who journeys to Earth in search of a water supply for his parched planet. But even after starting a huge company to gather the resources to build a ship to get him home, he falls prey to the greed of mankind.
Oren Moverman will script the new version for Warner Brothers’ Independent arm, which has purchased both the remake rights and the 1963 novel that formed the basis for Roeg’s film. There’s no director or cast yet.
