You'll have seen the picture of the assembled main Alien: Covenant cast that hit the web on Tuesday. It came with the promise of a new look at the movie. But more than simply a fresh trailer, what has arrived is a prologue short film called Last Supper. Watch it below.
Set aboard the titular colony ship, the scene finds the crew gathering for one last meal and bout of merry-making together before heading into cryosleep for the longer section of their journey. Of course, we all know that once the flight team emerges the other end, the planet they're hoping to colonise won't turn out to be quite the paradise they've been told.
This prologue was conceived by the film's director, Ridley Scott in collaboration creative consultants 3AM, and directed by his son, Morgan's Luke Scott. It's a chance to see James Franco's Captain Branson actually appear on screen (if briefly) and finds the crew in a rowdy mood. There's even a fun little nod to the original Alien.
With Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup and Danny McBride among the cast, Alien: Covenant will be out on 19 May.
