An actress who looks like going interstellar, A Royal Affair's Alicia Vikander has clearly caught of the eye of some serious Hollywood players, Tom Cruise included, in the past year or two. She's now in talks to join Cruise and Armie Hammer in spy caper flick The Man From U.N.C.L.E..
No word on who the Swede will play if she signs up, except that she'll be playing a spy with a thing for fast cars, working for the United Network Command for Law Enforcement to foil the baddies, Thrush. And no, we can't stop finding it funny either.
After a long gestation, during which George Clooney, Stephen Soderbergh and Bradley Cooper came and went from the project, U.N.C.L.E. now has Guy Ritchie behind the camera and Cruise and Hammer playing Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin respectively.
Vikander was last seen in Anna Karenina, and will soon appear in fantasy The Seventh Son with Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore.
Writing it is** Bourne Ultimatum **and **Contagion **scribe, Scott Z. Burns, clearly no greenhorn when it comes to crafting tense, global-trotting thrillers. It finally seems to be making steam over at Warner Bros., so expect more casting news soon.
