Last year, we learned that The Inbetweeners' Simon Bird was in the process of setting up his directorial debut, called Days Of The Bagnold Summer. He's tracked down the cast he needs, with Alice Lowe, Rob Brydon, Tamsin Greig, Monica Dolan, Elliot Speller-Gillot and Earl Cave all making deals to join the comedy.
Lisa Owens wrote the script, which adapts Joff Winterhart's 2012 work. The story concerns 15-year-old Daniel Bagnold (Cave), whose summer plan to visit his father and step-mother in Florida is thrown for a loop when they cancel. Facing the prospect of six weeks with his librarian mother (Dolan), Daniel nonetheless finds a way to have a good time with his friends, his heavy metal obsession, and yes, even with his mum.
Bird is looking to start shooting the film this autumn in the UK (seems weird for a film with "summer" in its title, but we're guessing cast schedules played a part).
