Years ago, Matt Logelin's memoir Two Kisses For Maddy: A Memoir Of Loss & Love was to be adapted into a film starring Channing Tatum. More recently, it passed to Kevin Hart as the lead and now we know that Alfre Woodard will appear alongside him.
Paul Weitz is on to direct the film, re-writing a script by Dana Stevens that adapts the tear-jerking true tale of Matt and Liz, high school sweethearts who marry and move to LA. They're delighted to learn that she's pregnant, only for tragedy to strike moments after the baby, Madeline is born. Before she can even hold her daughter, Liz dies from a pulmonary embolism, leaving Matt to become sole caretaker for the baby, his link to his beloved late wife.
Woodard will play Liz's mother, and we're fairly sure there will be drama between her and her son-in-law given the fallout of the family story. She'll next show up – her voice, at least – in Disney's new version of The Lion King, out 19 July. She's also starring with Jason Momoa in Apple's drama series See.
