With King Kong and Godzilla looking to share the screen in Godzilla Vs Kong, you'd think there'd be little room for others. Yet the cast has been swelling of late, and now Alexander Skarsgård is aboard the monster match-up.

Adam Wingard is preparing to direct the film, which is still shrouded in mystery beyond the obvious clue in the title. There will be conflict between the giant gorilla and the enormous lizard, but then they'll probably head to counseling and work out their issues in a tear-stained bout of emotional sharing and coping exercises. Or something. We did hear that Mothra recently got her therapist's licence.

The cast for this one already includes returning Godzilla: King Of The Monsters castmembers Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler and Ziyi Zhang, plus fellow monster franchise newcomers Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, a rumoured Danai Gurira and Demián Bichir. Godzilla Vs. Kong starts shooting next month and is set for release on 22 May, 2020, following King Of The Monsters, which arrives on 31 May next year.

Gamera, meanwhile, is currently performing as Daddy Warbucks in a local theatre production of Annie.
