Alexander Payne had success with arguments over quality wine in Sideways and for a new movie, he's turning his attention to high-end culinary culture. He'll direct comedy horror-thriller The Menu.

Will Tracy and Seth Reiss wrote the script, which focuses on a young couple who visits an exclusive destination restaurant on a remote island where the acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu, along with some shocking surprises. We're guessing there will be blood on the menu one way or another before the credits roll.

Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Betsy Koch are on as producers via their Gary Sanchez company and they'll be taking meetings with various studios to make a deal to distribute. There's no word yet on when Payne will set the cameras rolling, but of it all falls into place, this should be his next film.
