Alex Pettyfer Joins Now

Alex Pettyfer’s suddenly nabbing a lot of attention – he’s got high school fairytale re-working Beastly on the horizon, and he’s the focus of sci-fi action drama I Am Number Four. It looks like he’ll be sticking with science fiction as he’s won a role in Andrew Niccol’s latest project, which is currently titled Now.

Niccol has already kicked off shooting the film, which has changed its title several times from Untitled Andrew Niccol thriller to I’m.mortal and then I’m.mortal: Based on the novel ‘Push’ by Sapphir****e, and stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Vincent Kartheiser and Johnny Galecki.

**Now **is set in a near-future world where the aging gene has been switched off. But the catch to this seemingly brilliant scientific advancement is that the world faced overpopulation until someone in authority came up with the bright idea of using time as the new currency. So if you’re rich, you can live a seemingly immortal existence as a youthful and beautiful person, but if you’re poor, you’ve had it. To make sure people keep to the lifespan they can afford, the Timekeepers are around to go all Logan’s Run on anyone who breaks the rules.

There’s no word on what role Pettyfer will play, though he’s not the only new cast member signing on. Matt Bomer, currently best known for US TV crime drama White Collar, has also won an unspecified part.

Pettyfer’s not exactly hurting for auditions, either: he’s also apparently on the short list for Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer
