Given the size of the cast he’s sorting out for his next project, The Butler, Precious director Lee Daniels will need to hire extra craft services and support personnel. They’ll all be taking care of one more person, as Alex Pettyfer has signed on.
**The Butler **is based on the life of Eugene Allen, who served eight American presidents during his 30 years spent working in the White House. In that time, he bore witness to some of the most famous people and events to happen in the seat of US power.
Daniels’ bulging cast list already includes Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Mika Kelly, Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrence Howard, Kenny Kravitz and John Cusack, playing a swathe of well-known historical figures (and members of Allen’s family.) Daniels is scheduled to start shooting next month.
Pettyfer might not have seen his career break out the way he might have liked since I Am Number Four, but he’s still getting jobs, having appeared in** I****n Time** and the upcoming male stripper pic Magic Mike (which gyrates its way into cinemas on July 11). He’s also attached to the thriller** Diamond Dogs**.
