David Ayer is already busy shooting Suicide Squad, but he hasn’t finished adding cast members. The latest recruit for an already busy film is Twilight saga veteran Alex Meraz.
What role he might be playing is being kept obscure for now, but he’s joining a cast that already includes Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Scott Eastwood, Common and Ike Barinholtz, plus potential cameos from Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The latter appears to be confirmed as pictures of Affleck on the set have shown up online.
Suicide Squad, as you may know by now, brings to life the comic book adventures of a group of antiheroes and ne’er-do-wells coerced by shadowy government forces into completing impossible missions with the lure of pardons or reduced punishments. Ayer is taking aim an August 5, 2016 release date and his film will be the first of the new DC titles to follow Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
Meraz, who was in the Twilight fold starting with New Moon, has worked on indie titles **The Bronx Bull **and Cry Now. He was also part of the cast for Channel 4’s New Worlds, which featured Jamie Dornan.
