And a new comedy with Russell Brand

Alec Baldwin On For Woody Allen's Next

Woody Allen must have had a good time working with Alec Baldwin, because the 30 Rock star, who appears in the auteur’s latest comedy To Rome With Love, is now apparently going to join the cast of his next, untitled film. And that’s not the only job he’s lining up, as he’s also considering Man That Rocks The Cradle.

Allen’s next project sees the director back home in the US after his years-long tour of Europe, looking to shoot a movie this summer in San Francisco and New York. Sally Hawkins was announced at the end of last month and both Cate Blanchett and Bradley Cooper are said to be seriously considering taking other roles.

Naturally, the rest of the details, including the character Baldwin will be playing if he does end up signing on, have yet to be revealed by the typically secretive writer-director. To Rome With Love, meanwhile, is still awaiting a UK release date, but will hit US screens on June 22.

As for Man That Rocks The Cradle, the slightly strained pun is the title of a movie that will find Baldwin reuniting with another recent filmmaker partner, Russell Brand.

New Line, which just shoved them together in Rock Of Ages, is looking to get the duo back for the comedy, which finds an overworked husband and father who thinks he’s found the perfect solution when he hires a recommended super-nanny he’s been told is the best person to help his kids. Then it turns out the nanny is a manny… We’re assuming Baldwin will be the stressed dad and Brand the care expert, though we have some small hope they could reverse the roles for even more incongruous comedy value. Josh Cagan wrote the spec script, but the studio is apparently going to find a new writer to adapt the thing for the actors.

As mentioned, both Brand and Baldwin are part of the ensemble in Rock Of Ages, which rocks onto our screens on June 15.
