Two leading lights of the Beautiful People club, Jessica "Invisible Woman" Alba and Hayden "Call Me Darth" Christensen, have signed on to work together in a new film, Awake for the newly formed Weinstein Company. The film is a psychological thriller about the sort of modern nightmare that regularly turns up in the "real life" pages of gossip mags. It's about a man undergoing surgery who experienced "anaesthetic awareness", which means that he is unable to move or speak, but aware of everything happening. Basically, it's an experience usually confined to the nastier sort of horror films. Christensen plays the unlucky patient, with Alba playing his wife. She apparently has to "wrestle with her own demons" as the drama unfolds around her. We're not quite sure what that means, since the scary part of anaesthetic awareness is surely that no one else knows it's happening, but we're sure that all will become clear. In any case, the film's producers promise that this will "do for surgery what Jaws did to swimming in the ocean"
