Affleck Becomes Phoenix Groupie

First we had Eric Bana making a documentary about muscle cars with perm-headed Jeremy Clarkson, and now Casey Affleck has picked up his camera to make a film about Joaquin Phoenix's quest for musical success.

When Phoenix announced that he was retiring from a perfectly respectable movie career in order to concentrate his efforts on the world of music, one would perhaps have assumed that he might have picked up a guitar and utilised the singing voice that he showcased in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line. But, no. Instead, Phoenix will don a hoody and some bling to become a rapper, with an album produced by Sean "P Diddy/ Puff Daddy/ Sean John" Combs.

Whether this stab at our ears will work is one thing - but for Affleck to also down tools on projects like Michael Winterbottom's The Killer Inside Me in order to follow Phoenix's progress, like Mel from Flight Of The Chonchords, is just a little strange. Perhaps Phoenix figured that, as a a rapper, he would now require an entourage at all times, and decided to bring his best mate along for the ride, with a "documentary" as a ruse.

Here is a little taste of what we can expect.

Oh dear - Casey, haven't you got films to be acting in?
