The cast for G.I. Joe 2 (current subtitle: Cobra Strikes) is growing as director John M Chu gets set to kick off shooting (in more ways than one) this summer. The latest recruit for the team? Legion’s Adrianne Palicki.
Palicki, who is probably happier being known for TV drama Friday Night Lights, is aboard to play Lady Jaye, the team’s covert operations specialist.
Jaye is an accomplished actress and fluent in several languages, which makes her the perfect undercover operative.
And Palicki is just one of the latest cast members to sign on: The Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and actor DJ Cotrona have both boarded the film in the last week or so. The rapper-turned-actor will play a martial arts expert named the Blind Master who helped train both Snake Eyes (Ray Park) and newcomer Jinx (Elodie Yung). Cotrona, meanwhile, is on as Flint, one of the team’s stalwart soldiers.
Alongside returning veteran Channing Tatum, and Dwayne Johnson (who confirmed his casting as Roadblock on Twitter), there’s apparently talk of casting a big name to play the original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton. Deadline mentions Bruce Willis as a possibility, though right now it appears he’s just one name on producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura’s wish list.
With a script by Zombieland’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the Joe sequel is scheduled to arrive next year.
