The first trailer for the Matt Damon/Emily Blunt sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau has gone online according to plan over at Yahoo.
Adapted from Philip K Dick’s short story **The Adjustment Team **(albeit very loosely, since a direct version would be more like an episode of The Twilight Zone), the plot finds Damon as ambitious political type David Norris, who seems destined for greatness and the US senate.
But then he meets ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Blunt), and, as you might expect, falls for her. Soon, however, he’s up against the mysterious agents of fate known as the Adjustment Bureau – fedora-topped types who claim to move the chess pieces of the world around to a pre-assigned plan. And David’s relationship with Elise is interrupting their carefully designed scheme…
Cue a tough decision: does David let her go and see both their futures secured, or does he try to hang on to his love and risk their lives.
The trailer pitches a brainy, intriguing idea blended with lots of running and both Terrence Stamp and Mad Men’s John Slattery looking coolly menacing in sharp suits. We’re sold. But see what you think.
If the men behind the Bureau have their way, the film will arrive on September 17.
