The colossal cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past continues to get, um, colossal-er, and the latest addition is Adan Canto. Canto, currently appearing in Kevin Williamson's TV drama The Following alongside Kevin Bacon, tweeted over the weekend that he's "thrilled to be in X-Men". He also posted a picture of himself, Bryan Singer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Shawn Ashmore watching the Montreal Canadiens. Nice company if you can get it.
Which particular brand of mutant will Canto be playing? That, for the time being, remains classified, although there is, of course, speculation. Another loose-lipped Canto tweet from a couple of days earlier warned that, "I might turn into a ball of fire if someone pisses me off." That has lead many to the notion that he could be in line for Roberto da Costa, AKA Sunspot, who can absorb and channel solar power.
Others, somewhat oddly, have countered with Yoshida Shiro AKA Sunfire. But given that Sunfire is Japanese, while Sunspot is Brazilian and Canto was born in Mexico (which, OK, is not Brazil but at least it's on an adjoining continent), we know where our money lies.
**X-Men Days Of Future Past **unites the classic and the First Class X-movie eras, and so far stars Hugh Jackman, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, with new faces Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy also aboard. Bryan Singer's cameras are rolling as we speak, and it's due out on July 18 next year.
