The cameras are now rolling on Jordan Peele's new version of The Twilight Zone anthology TV series, with a batch of new twisty morality plays in the works. One will recreate a classic episode of the 1950s/60s original, with Adam Scott boarding Nightmare At 30,000 Feet.

It'll serve as a new spin on the memorable 1963 outing Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, in which a pre-Star Trek William Shatner played a man convinced a gremlin is destroying the wing and engine of the commercial airliner he's flying on, but can't convince anyone to believe him, and starts to doubt his sanity.

Nightmare was recreated for a segment of the 1983 movie adaptation, which featured John Lithgow as the worried man. And, of course, there was the inevitable Simpsons spoof{ =nofollow}. What the new episode will do to the story – originally adapted from Richard Matheson's short fiction – remains to be seen, but the new Twilight Zone, hosted by Peele, will hit the US streaming service CBS All Access next year. Scott, meanwhile, has a recurring role on excellent sitcom The Good Place and will be back as part of the Big Little Lies cast in 2019.
