Goldman V Silverman

They might not be in the Oscar conversation this year after missing out on nominations, but Adam Sandler and his Uncut Gems directing team of Josh and Benny Safdie aren't letting that stop them. They stealthily worked on an odd short film, Goldman V Silverman, and have put it online.

Looking like something they squeezed in while shooting Gems, the short tells of a gold-painted street performer (Sandler) in New York, who entertains crowds with his bumbling style and kazoo. Enter a silver-sprayed rival (Benny Safdie) with his own kazoo and a mocking attitude...

It might not have the crunching tension of the main film they made, but it's certainly entertaining and you do find yourself wondering where it'll all lead, and it bears the same great filmmaking style.

Chances are this'll show up among the extras when Uncut Gems heads to home entertainment formats, and our review of the movie, on UK screens now, can be found here.
