Adam Sandler has enjoyed some of the best reviews of his career for his work in Uncut Gems, but his comedy films for Netflix – while popular – haven't seen the same response. He might be hoping for a blend of the two with his next project for the streaming service, a basketball film called Hustle.
Jeremiah Zagar, who last made indie We The Animals, is on to direct the film, which has a script originated by Taylor Materne and re-written by Will Fetters. Sandler will play an American basketball scout, who, after being unjustly fired, discovers a talented player abroad and decides to bring him to the States to prove that they both have what it takes to make it in the NBA.
This one was originally at Legendary (which bought Materne's pitch), but Netflix nabbed it and presented it to Sandler as a potential movie. While it's not known when it'll actually shoot, it'll likely end up as his next gig.
