Adam Sandler is no stranger to animation, having written, produced and voiced Chanukah/Xmas caper Eight Crazy Nights.

But now he’s branching out into TV’ toons, and he couldn’t have picked a better partner. Sandler will team up with TV Funhouse creator Robert Smigel (the man also responsible for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog) for a comedy called Animals that Fox has just bought.

The network will produce a short pilot presentation of the show, which will rip into suburban life using creatures to stand in for humans (think Over The Hedge, but funny). Greg Cohen from King Of The Hill will also be involved, so this should be one to watch.

If the name TV Funhouse means nothing to you, they’re Smigel’s cartoon creations for Saturday Night Live. Throw the name into YouTube and try not to throw up from laughing too hard. Oh, but if you’re easily offended? You might want to given ‘em a miss.
