Never really one to make a big announcement when he starts a new film, Noah Baumbach is back at it again, rolling the cameras for his latest, which goes by the working title of Yen Din Ka Kissa (or, The Story Of The Day in Hindi). He's rounded up a cast that includes the eclectic likes of Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson.
The Film Stage received news of the project via eagle-eyed sources on the streets of NYC, and there is additional info that indicates Sandler and Stiller will be siblings in the story of an estranged New York family that must come together ready for artist and patriarch Harold's (Hoffman) career retrospective.
Thompson looks to be part of the family too, telling USA Today that she's playing "a dreadful, passive-aggressive alcoholic" in what the paper has heard is titled The Meyerowitz Stories, so we'll have to wait and see whether either title ends up as the film's final name.
Stiller, of course, is a Baumbach veteran, but Sandler's more of a surprise for the director. Still, he has done great work with the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson before, even if his last collaboration with a director known for thoughtful indies, Tom McCarthy, didn't turn out as well.
