Even before his father’s death in February, Adam Nimoy – son of Leonard – had been planning a documentary called For The Love Of Spock. Now he’s looking to raise $600,000 to cover the costs. Take a look at the pitch video.
Talking to Variety, Nimoy said that the additional funds will be used to help finish the film, which has Zachary Quinto – no stranger to the ears, eyebrows and logical disposition himself – narrating. “The funding of this film through Kickstarter will enable us to continue with production — which will mostly take the form of filming interviews of dad’s friends, colleagues and family members,” Nimoy says. “It will also enable us to license the hundreds of film clips and still photographs of Mr. Spock as he has appeared on television and in feature films over the last 50 years.”
The aim is to celebrate Leonard Nimoy’s work and life around and beyond Star Trek, to be ready in time for the 50th anniversary of the show next year. Supporters can score rewards such as autographed photos, scripts and the chance to nab a producer credit on the film. Check out the Kickstarter page here.
