Adam Driver and his Midnight Special director Jeff Nichols have hatched a plan to reunite for a new film. Driver will star for Nichols in fact-based film Yankee Comandante.
Nichols is writing the script and aiming to direct the film when productions can gear back up again, possibly next yer. The story adapts David Grann’s *New Yorker *article about two people who rose to the rank of comandante during the Cuban Revolution. One was Che Guevara. The other was a man from Ohio.
Nicholas has Imperative Entertainment shopping the idea around various studios, so it seems likely to find a home soon. As for Driver, he'd been at work on Ridley Scott's The Last Duel, which had to shut down when stay-at-home orders began. It should resume later this year.
