Since taking the directorial reins for the **Pitch Perfect **sequel, Elizabeth Banks has been on a mission to round up the majority of the original cast. She’s now locked down one more veteran, with Adam DeVine set to reprise his role as Treble Makers leader Bumper Allen.
With the first film’s writer Kay Cannon back on script duty, Banks has Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow all ready to return alongside new recruit Hailee Steinfeld. We’d put good money on the likes of Skylar Astin, Anna Camp and John Michael Higgins all showing up for some musical madness.
Bumper Allen, of course, was the big nemesis for Beca and co., the preening leading man of Barden University’s all male a capella group. At the end of the first film, he leaves the group, announcing his intention to sing backup for John Mayer. We don’t yet know the story for the sequel, but presumably Bumper’s big career move hasn’t got quite to plan…
Banks will start the cameras rolling this month, and Universal has already marked up May 15 next year as the release date for what it hopes will be a successful follow-up to the smash hit. DeVine is on screen now (albeit for a brief cameo) in Bad Neighbours. He’s recently worked on horror comedy The Final Girls.
